No Show Shows Up

8th July 2022

Wow wow wow. What. A. Night. PLB is well and truly back and the season opener did not disappoint.

Magee's hard work on The Big Time in the off-season seems to have paid off with the Pinter veteran taking home 6 whole points for dinner. The Tickler had a game of 2 halves - narrowly missing out on a Turkey and then crumbling like a badly baked pastry. Strikaar swiftly followed suit in what appeared to be a significant lack of match fitness. That didn't matter though as the sheer power of the black and blues meant they came out on top.

As we turn our attention to Davie 2 Shoes and his Riders of Rowans, there's a lot that's better left unsaid. The team lacked leadership. The bowling lacked talent. And the patter, well the patter, was simply lacking.

Pin City Rollers inaugural outing will be hard to forget. Captain Renegade Regan worked his pins off to put together a stellar starting lineup. The Rollers seemed to gel early doors but Renegade will be looking to the training lanes to wipe out some of Pin City's inconsistencies. Tomahawk and JC were mixing strikes and gutterballs whilst the league's first lefty, Foxy Foxtrot, played around a little too much with ball speed. Renegade's much-needed half time team talk spurred on the Bombay Bandit as he picked up a rather spicy 121 in the second frame, leading to some pundits dubbing him as "Moz 2.0".

Although the Rollers are sitting 3rd in the table, fans will take pride in their performance last night as PLB's Most Valuable Pinsman award made its way to Pin City.

Daniel "No Show" Pearce was a surprise last minute signing by Renegade and some pundits were not complementary. Pearce's relaxed persona has drawn a lot of criticism on the lanes and some of us thought the South African would take a while to settle into his new life in Pin City. Last night he proved us all wrong. No Show showed up with a monstrous 164-161 combo to clean up both sets of bonus points and account for a whopping 54% of his PCR's point scoring.

Truly terrific pin tumbling.

Stay tuned for Game 2 which has been rescheduled to Wednesday 3rd August and will be Harry "Melon" Lemon's final competitive PLB performance.
